AUPE and Town of Bonnyville ratify three-year collective agreement
BONNYVILLE – Members of the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees who work for the Town of Bonnyville have voted to ratify a new three-year collective agreement.
The agreement includes across-the-board pay increases for the 68 employees represented by AUPE Local 118/002 of 3 per cent in the first year, retroactive to Jan. 1, 2010, 3 per cent in the second year and 4 per cent in the third year.
“The members are happy to have concluded a fair agreement with the town and they’re looking forward to a positive renewed working relationship with the employer,” said AUPE Staff Negotiator Jim Petrie, who led the union bargaining committee.
The agreement, which was ratified by both AUPE members and the Bonnyville Town Council on April 27, runs until Dec. 31, 2012.
The agreement also includes an increase of $25 in the annual allowance for safety footwear, plus technical changes to contract language related to training courses, hours of work and probationary periods for casual employees.
Bonnyville is located in east-central Alberta about 200 kilometres northeast of Edmonton.
