Northern Lakes College support staff ratify new collective agreement
HIGH PRAIRIE– Support staff at Northern Lakes College ratified a new collective agreement on Aug. 27, which was reached after only two days of negotiations. The two-year agreement is retroactive to July 1, 2012, and will expire on June 30, 2014.
Golf tournament raises over $12,000 for charity
The 2012 annual AUPE Charity Golf Tournament was held on Aug. 18 at the Sandpiper Golf and Country Club near St. Albert, AB. The day included eighteen holes of golf for the participants, a fantastic dinner, and great prizes. The tournament raised $12,500 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Alberta. The Pay and Social Equity committee met with Liberal MLA Laurie Blakeman on Aug. 23.
Monterey at night
Monterey Place workers hold the line at their worksite well into the night on Aug. 23. The workers sometimes extend their picket line hours into the evening to greet the shift change. The members from Monterey will have been locked out for sixty days this weekend.
Show your solidarity with Monterey Place staff
Saturday, Aug. 25, marks the 60th day of the Monterey Place lockout in northeast Calgary. The 90 members of AUPE Local 048, Chapter 006 will mark two months of solidarity on Sunday, Aug. 26 with a potluck lunch, and all AUPE members are invited to come out and show their support.
