DOVE Award nomination deadline is Feb. 11
EDMONTON – AUPE’s Women’s Committee is encouraging members to nominate worthy activists now for the 2012 DOVE Award. The annual award, created by a resolution of the AUPE Convention in 2001, honours female members who have made major contributions to the betterment of women and all members of the union.

AUPE members from around the province gather at union headquarters Jan. 31 in Edmonton for AUPE’s Intro to your Union course. AUPE’s labour education courses are considered among the best in Canada.

The staff at Waterford, a seniors continuing care facility, recently voted to join AUPE and have served notice to the employer to begin bargaining their first collective agreement.

AUPE files strike vote application against Edith Cavell Care Centre in Lethbridge
LETHBRIDGE – A strike vote application was filed yesterday by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees on behalf of close to 120 members at the Edith Cavell Care Centre in Lethbridge.
