Merry Christmas to our members and all Albertans from everyone here at AUPE!
EDMONTON – During this holiday season, it is a time to enjoy our families, friends, and all the blessings of living in a wonderful place like Alberta, said AUPE president Guy Smith today.
Local 095 held their Children’s Christmas party on Dec. 10 at Thorncliffe Community Centre in Calgary. There were approximately 600 children in attendance, along with their accompanying adults. They enjoyed face painting, balloon artists, music, food and of course Santa came with gifts for all the children!! The day was divided into two groupings to accommodate the numbers.
General Support Services members in Athabasca send a clear message to AHS at their voting station on Dec. 20. The members are voting on a mediator’s report, which the bargaining committee is recommending rejecting.
The Winter/Spring 2012 course schedule for AUPE’s union education courses has been posted, and union activists are encouraged to sign up for courses beginning Dec. 22.
AUPE members, friends and supporters gathered for a quick post-lunch information picket outside Revera Churchill in downtown Edmonton, Dec. 19. Members of Local 047/007 have been engaged in a difficult round of bargaining with Revera Inc. for a year.
AHS GSS members in Lethbridge met on Dec. 6 to discuss and vote on the mediator’s report issued in mid-November. The bargaining team is recommending that members reject the report.
AUPE Local 020 members picket outside ATB Financial in downtown Calgary on Dec. 15. The approximately 2,000 employees are working to secure a fair collective agreement with their employer.
