EDMONTON – Alberta’s largest union is taking the Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) to mediation after being stonewalled in bargaining.
AUPE mailroom staff work at the label machine to prepare the more than 75,000 copies of AUPE’s Direct Impact magazine, which is distributed across the province to members four times a year. The current issue should arrive in members’ mailboxes in the next two weeks.

The organizers and volunteers for the ever successful Peace Fest Pancake Breakfast pose for a photo July 8. Sponsored by the Peace River Area Council and the Peace Country Co-op, this is the 15th year that the pancake breakfast has “officially” kicked off Peace Fest – an annual event held to remember the drastic flooding of Peace River in 1997. Normally, the breakfast is held outdoors, however this year, due to a predicted heavy rainfall, it was moved to the Bingo Hall. Thank you to AUPE Vice-President Erez Raz for travelling up to flip pancakes! Proceeds from the 2011 breakfast were donated to the Fresh Air Outdoor Theatre for their promotion of “Anti-Bullying” in the community.
EDMONTON – Registration forms for Labour School 2012 are now in the mail to Local and Chapter chairs. Anyone interested in attending AUPE’s 12th annual premiere educational event should submit their application as soon as possible.
