Information pickets planned for Shepherd’s Care
EDMONTON — The Alberta Union of Provincial Employees will hold the first of two information pickets on Saturday to protest stalling tactics at the bargaining table by a large continuing care employer.
General Support Service bargaining update
Our history, Bill 27:
In March 2003, the provincial government forced the amalgamation of Alberta’s health region bargaining units through its controversial Bill 27. This amalgamation had a tremendous impact on many provincial health care employees, including us.
General support services staff are still feeling the effects of this amalgamation years later.

General Support Service workers end direct talks with Alberta Health Services
EDMONTON — The bargaining committee representing more than 22,000 Alberta Union of Provincial Employees members working in General Support Services roles with Alberta Health Services broke off contract negotiations yesterday after talks with the employer ground to a halt.
Funspiel donates $5,000 to Edmonton Humane Society
The Edmonton Humane Society was the recipient of the proceeds from the 2011 AUPE Curling Funspiel. The cheque was presented to EHS representatives at their new facility on June 1.
The annual event raises money for a charity selected through random draw. This year’s donation raises the amount of money donated as a result of the funspiels to almost $27,000.
Information on the Seventh Annual Curling Funspiel will be available following the Charity Golf Tournament in August.
Information pickets planned for Shepherd’s Care
AUPE members are urged to support Auxiliary Nursing Care and General Support Services employees in several chapters of Local 047 by joining information pickets outside two Shepherd’s Care Foundation continuing care centres in Edmonton this month.
