EDMONTON – The president of the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) is condemning the federal Conservatives’ legislation, passed this weekend, which undermines Canada Post employees’ collective bargaining rights.
EDMONTON – AUPE’s Pay and Social Equity Conference, which attracted more than 100 members from various locals across the province, met for two days of education, June 23 and 24, at the Mayfield Inn in Edmonton.
Fifteen AUPE members took part in the union’s Occupational Health and Safety Advocate Level 2 course, held in Calgary on June 22 and 23.
Nominees should be AUPE members aged 30 or younger who advocate for others on the jobsite or work with the union to improve working conditions. Or, they could be members who work with labour to improve society and inspire others to take part in labour-supported causes.
To nominate a deserving young activist, download the nomination from the AUPE website. Nominations may be submitted by an AUPE member or group of members. Nominations do not have to be approved by an AUPE Local Council, but the committee encourages discussion at the Local Council.
The winner will be announced on Aug. 12 on the AUPE website and the committee will present the award to the individual at his or her worksite.
Approximately 50 AUPE members listen to guest speaker Brenda Robinson June 23 at the union’s Pay and Social Equity Conference in Edmonton. More than 100 members are at the two-day conference, which concludes today following an address from AUPE’s president.
EDMONTON — The Alberta Union of Provincial Employees is reminding members and the public that today marks the United Nations’ Public Service Day.
