CALGARY – The 15 AUPE members who attended the Calgary pre-election seminar are now informed and ready to participate in the democratic process, thanks to the wealth of knowledge imparted by the seminar’s speakers and special guests.

LETHBRIDGE – Members of the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees who work at the University of Lethbridge are planning a lunch hour information picket today to draw attention to the harmful effects of serious underfunding at Alberta post-secondary institutions.
May Day concert to celebrate historical contributions of working people
EDMONTON – Please note that this concert was canceled on Apr. 26 due to unforeseen circumstances.
May Day will be celebrated this year with music, song, and solidarity at the May Day 2010 Concert being held in Edmonton. The concert features the choir Notre Dame des Bananes and Canadian folk singer Maria Dunn.

4.5% pay increase for ANC employees of AHS and other employers took effect April 1
EDMONTON – A 4.5-per-cent pay increase for Auxiliary Nursing Care employees of Alberta Health Services and several other employers took effect on April 1.
The Multi-Employer Collective Agreement between AUPE and Alberta Health Services, plus 12 other employers, was negotiated in 2008 and runs until March 31, 2012.
