ST. ALBERT – Members of the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees who work at the Youville Home continuing care facility have ratified a new two-year collective agreement.

EDMONTON – Three days of mediation between members of the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees and their employer, the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, have failed to produce a new collective agreement.
EDMONTON – After serious consideration and extensive debate, the Bargaining Committee for AUPE Local 059/001 has agreed to give local members the opportunity to democratically vote to accept or reject the final offer received yesterday from the employer.
EDMONTON – Members of the Local Authority Pension Plan and all AUPE members have been asked by their union to telephone or email Premier Ed Stelmach and their own MLA to protest dangerous changes to the rules governing the Board of the LAPP.
EDMONTON – Members of AUPE who are enrolled in the Local Authorities Pension Plan, as well as members of the Public Service Pension Plan, are strongly urged to contact their MLAs and Premier Ed Stelmach to tell them to fix the rules governing the activities of the LAPP board by putting them back they way they were before changes were made in November.
EDMONTON – Pam Barrett, former leader of the Alberta New Democratic Party and a long-time trade union activist, has died. She was 54.
