Nominations sought for 2007 DOVE Award
EDMONTON – The AUPE Women’s Committee is now accepting nominations for the 2007 DOVE Award, the annual award created to honour female AUPE members who have made major contributions to the betterment of women and others in our union.
AUPE’s Provincial Executive will determine response to court ruling
EDMONTON – The Provincial Executive of the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees will meet Saturday to determine the union’s response to an Alberta Court of Appeal ruling yesterday that affirmed a disputed 2001 decision by the Alberta Labour Relations Board.
Pedal power at SAIT
AUPE Local 039, representing support employees of SAIT, sponsored the Super-Bike ride from Banff to Calgary Oct. 27. The ride raised funds for the United Way and highlighted transportation options with its human/electric drive-train.

November Green Card Contest winner will order something warm to wear
EDMONTON – An AUPE member employed by the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital in Grande Prairie is the November winner of the union’s Green Card Contest.
Lunch-hour meeting in Stony Plain
AUPE President Doug Knight met with about 50 union members at a Nov. 27 lunch-hour pizza meeting in Stony Plain to introduce himself and discuss bargaining and other topics of interest to members. A large percentage of participants in the meeting were members of AUPE Local 006, representing social services workers directly employed by the provincial government, and a hot topic was the size of caseloads that must be carried by the local’s front-line members. Other issues discussed included upcoming bargaining for a new Master Agreement for all direct government employees between AUPE and the province, PREP appeals, and the continuing Conservative leadership race.

AUPE members at Athabasca University ratify new three-year collective agreement
ATHABASCA – Members of the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees who work for Athabasca University have ratified a new three-year collective agreement that includes pay increases of 12 per cent over the full term of the contract.
