Twenty-four members graduate from Basic Union Steward Course
A total of 24 new and eager Stewards left AUPE Headquarters in Edmonton Sept. 30, anxious to implement their new skill sets at their respective worksites. The members learned how to identify violations in their respective collective agreements; how to file grievances; applicable legislation; and their overall role as a Steward. “We had a dynamic group who, I’m confident, will make great stewards,” said co-instructor Lynn Gough, who taught the BUSC along with MSO colleague Susan Maruca.
