EDMONTON – A total of 171 golfers enjoyed a memorable day at AUPE’s first charity golf tournament on Aug. 27 — and raised close to $10,000 for the United Way in the process.
CALGARY – More than 1,000 Alberta Union of Provincial Employees members and guests are expected to attend Thursday’s member appreciation barbecue on the University of Calgary campus.
The event, which will run from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on the South Lawn of the MacEwan Student Centre, is being organized by AUPE Local 052 to show appreciation for the hard work done for the university community by the local’s members.
Local 052 represents approximately 2,800 U of C non-academic employees.
A shuttle bus has been chartered to make sure U of C employees at off-campus locations can attend the barbecue.

Local 047/022 Bargaining Committee making progress on non-monetary items for Venta Care Centre employees
EDMONTON – The Bargaining Committee for more than 85 long-term auxiliary care nurses employed at Venta Care Centre in Edmonton is making progress on resolving all non-monetary issues in its latest round of negotiations.
AUPE members encouraged to send letters of support for locked-out CBC employees to Members of Parliament
Edmonton – AUPE is encouraging its members to voice their dissention concerning the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s decision to lockout thousands of its employees across Canada by writing letters to their respective Member of Parliament.
EDMONTON – A lunch-time music and comedy show featuring the voices and faces of locked-out CBC radio and television personalities will be held on the steps of Edmonton City Hall on Wednesday, Aug. 31.
EDMONTON – The Alberta Union of Provincial Employees and its corporate sponsors will award $40,500 in education bursaries this year to its members and their children.
Close to 1,500 members and staff of the Foothills Medical Center attended a barbecue hosted by AUPE Local 095/045 held at the Calgary hospital Aug. 25.
AUPE members employed with the Alberta Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission ratify three-year agreement
Edmonton – AUPE members employed by the Alberta Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission (AADAC) have overwhelmingly ratified a collective agreement that includes a provision for pay increases of 9.9 per cent over a three-year term.
Rain and chilly temperatures couldn’t dampen the spirits of AUPE members, who gathered Aug. 23 for Local 095/045’s annual barbecue held at Calgary’s Peter Lougheed Center.
EDMONTON – Eight months of preparation will culminate this Saturday when 163 players tee off for charity in the first-ever AUPE United Way Golf Tournament.
