Changes to the Labour Relations Code

On May 24, 2017, the government introduced Bill 17: Fair and Family-friendly Workplaces Act, which makes amendments to the Employment Standards Code and the Labour Relations Code. Alberta’s labour and employment legislation was severely out dated and lagging behind standards found in the rest of Canada and as set by the courts. Bill 17 makes moderate changes to bring our legislation and standards closer to mainstream and to alleviate some of the heavy imbalance of power and rights that currently exists in favour of employers.

Member Update: Pay and Social Equity Committee petitions

AUPE’s Pay and Social Equity Committee would like to remind all chapters and locals to send signed pay equity petitions back to headquarters by May 31.
