AUPE’s standing Youth Committee met at union Headquarters in Edmonton on March 5.

The committee was created during AUPE’s 2001 Annual Convention based on a number of factors, including the fact that young people under 26 have been identified by the labour movement as an equity-seeking group that tends to be clustered in the secondary labour market.

AUPE recognizes that youth are an invaluable asset to our union now, make up the future of our union, and that young workers stand to gain enormously by becoming more in AUPE and other unions.

The committee aims to help young people empower their working lives by becoming more involved in AUPE and other unions.
