AUPE President takes part in barbecues all over Alberta

AUPE President Dan MacLennan has been meeting AUPE and members of other unions at barbecues throughout Alberta as AUPE continues its Bill 27 runoff votes campaign.

“We’ve been very pleased by the reception we’ve received this week and last from both AUPE members and members of other unions,” MacLennan said.

The runoff votes – most of them for General Support Services workers – were called in many health regions as a requirement of the regulations to Bill 27, the Alberta law passed in March that restructures bargaining units in the province’s nine health regions.

The bill requires the creation of large functional bargaining units in which all employees in one of four job categories in each region will be represented by one union under one contract.

Mail-in ballots are now in the process of being mailed to eligible employees throughout the province by the Alberta Labour Relations Board.
