AUPE members participated in Day of Mourning ceremonies held at the union’s Edmonton headquarters on April 28.

AUPE Vice-President and Health & Safety Committee Chairman Garnett Robinson commenced the ceremonies with a speech recognizing member Sylvia Vega, a teller at ATB Financial died on Dec. 10, 2003 when a car driven by a Calgary man crashed through the wall of her Calgary branch killing her and serious injuring several of her colleagues.

Two of her ATB colleagues, ATB Local 20 Chair Linda Kneeshaw and Recording Secretary Cindy McFeeters, also participated in the ceremony.
