AUPE marked International Women’s Day March 8 by honouring two
committed union activists with the union’s third annual DOVE Award.
Two others were named as runners up for the award.
Shauna Warrilow, Chair of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Care Chapter at the
University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton and Local 046 Council Representative,
was one of the two 2004 winners.
Tracy Quinton, Vice Chair and Council Rep of Local 039 at the Southern
Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary, was the other.
Bernie Hardy of Local 054/008, representing general support staff at the
Alberta Hospital Edmonton, and Patricia White of Vulcan, a Chapter Chair
with Local 045, were named as runners up for the award.
The awards were presented by AUPE President Dan MacLennan and AUPE Vice-President
Lynne Gingras, chair of the union’s Women’s Committee.
