AUPE health care locals meet to discuss Bill 27

EDMONTON – The executives of all AUPE health care locals met in Leduc April 11 to discuss the implications of Bill 27.

Bill 27, which was passed by the provincial legislature on March 25 and given Royal Assent on March 27, takes the right to strike away from many health care workers, creates functional bargaining units in all health regions and breaks the severance terms of a legally negotiated collective agreement between AUPE and the Alberta Mental Health Board.

The meetings took place throughout the day April 11 at the Executive Royal Inn hotel.

AUPE’s Provincial Executive was scheduled to meet April 12 at the same location. Bill 27 was also on PE’s agenda.
