Reminder: AUPE convention begins tomorrow in Edmonton

EDMONTON — The Alberta Union of Provincial Employees begins its 27th annual convention at 9 a.m. tomorrow.

The important annual meeting will get under way to the sounds of Solidarity Forever sung by more than 750 delegates, guests, observers and staff and played by a brass quintet of from the Edmonton Musicians Association.

Elections for AUPE’s president, executive secretary-treasurer and four vice-presidents will also take place through Friday morning and early afternoon.

Also Friday, Alberta Teachers Association President Frank Bruseker will address the delegates at 2 p.m.

The convention takes place at the Ramada Hotel and Convention Centre, 11834 Kingsway Ave., in Edmonton.
