PREP advice available for AUPE members

EDMONTON – AUPE has staff available at Headquarters in Edmonton to help members directly employed by the provincial government deal with the province’s Point Rating Evaluation Program (PREP).

The government served notice in the last round of negotiations with AUPE that all members of the General Service of the Alberta government would have their jobs evaluated using the modified version of the Hay Classification System.

The PREP system has already been implemented in two General Service locals – Local 002, Administrative and Program Services, and Local 006, Social Services.

As a result, AUPE has ensured members employed by the government will have help when dealing with the challenges presented by PREP during the transition.

Mark Seville of Local 002 and Lynne Gingras, AUPE vice-president and Local 001 member, have been seconded to full-time duties as a Membership Services Officers to provide PREP appeals training and assistance to local and chapter representatives and members in the General Service.

Union Representative Mike Boyle will head-up the AUPE program to help members deal with PREP.
Information and resources will also be posted on the AUPE Web site as they become available.
