AUPE Union Rep appointed to Public Service Pension Board

EDMONTON — AUPE Union Representative Sophie Parsons has been appointed to a term on the Public Service Pension Board.

Parsons’ term on the board, announced in an order of the provincial Cabinet dated Nov. 4, will run until Dec. 31, 2007.

Parsons, who works from AUPE’s Headquarters in Edmonton, specializes in issues related to pensions, benefits, disability appeals, Workers Compensation, duty to accommodate and occupational health and safety.

In addition to her new duties with the Public Service Pension Board, Parsons advises the AUPE Pension Committee and has sat on the union’s Occupational Health and Safety Committee. She is also a member of the board of the Workers Health Centre and serves on several other provincial committees.

Parsons has worked extensively with the Federal Government, the Alberta Government, the Royal Alexandra Hospital and in the private sector.
