Workers Compensation Board AGM to be Web cast June 4 on Internet

CALGARY – The Alberta Workers Compensation Board plans to hold its annual general meeting in Calgary on Wednesday, June 4, and AUPE members and others will be able to join the meeting via their Internet connection.

"This is a real opportunity for AUPE members to tune into the AGM of an institution that is very important to working people in Alberta," said AUPE Union Representative Grace Dykau, a specialist in Workers Compensation and worksite safety at AUPE Headquarters in Edmonton.

"We hope AUPE members will tune into the WCB Web cast and take the opportunity to ask questions," Dykau said.

The WCB will present its 2002 annual report at the meeting and update stakeholders on its priorities for 2003.
The WCB says it will also present what it calls its key performance indicators.

The WCB, which alternates its AGMs between Edmonton and Calgary each year, uses Web cast technology to allow stakeholders in other parts of the province take part in the meeting.

Web cast participants will be able to see and hear speeches and presentations live and ask questions on-line.

To register to join the "virtual audience" for the WCB meeting, go to the WCB Web site – www.wcb.ab.ca.

The WCB’s 2002 annual report will also be posted on the site on June 1.
