AUPE members saddened by workplace tragedy

CALGARY – Executive, staff and fellow members of the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees join co-workers and friends of an AUPE member killed in a workplace accident Wednesday in deep sadness and shock.

The woman was killed when a car crashed through a window of ATB Financial’s Northpointe Branch in northwest Calgary where she worked.

Five other ATB Financial employees, one of them an AUPE member, were injured when the car crashed into the branch boardroom, where a routine morning meeting was taking place.

Calgary police are still investigating the tragedy and the names of the victims have not yet been released.
“This is a terrible tragedy for family, friends and co-workers,” said AUPE President Dan MacLennan.

“AUPE staff will be in contact with the family and will do everything in their power to assist those who are affected by this tragic situation in any way possible,” he said.
