Advocacy group seeks Edmonton non-smokers for media campaign focus group

EDMONTON — Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) is looking for several Edmonton residents to participate in a focus group that will assist with the development of a new media campaign promoting smoke-free workplaces and public establishments.

“This focus group will help us to determine the best messages and strategies for our media campaign,” said Les Hagen, ASH executive director.

The health advocacy group is seeking between 10 and 12 employed professionals with a post-secondary degree or diploma who are non-smokers and whose health, or that of a family member’s, is affected by second-hand tobacco smoke.

Selected participants will provide feedback on various messages and advertisements that ASH might use in its upcoming Alberta media campaign.

The discussion group is scheduled to take place on Sept. 7 from 7 pm. to 9 p.m., at an Edmonton location yet to be announced.

Those individuals selected for the focus group will each receive a $50 honorarium.
