Calgary Teamsters end strike against Federated Co-op

CALGARY — After 13 weeks on strike, approximately 300 members of Teamsters Union Local 987 have ratified a collective agreement with Federated Co-operatives Ltd.

The ratification vote and return to work by the Teamsters members, who worked in two Co-op warehouses in Calgary, brings to an end the request for a boycott of Calgary Co-operative Association Ltd. retail stories.

Meanwhile, Teamsters Canada announced this morning that 3,800 employees of United Parcel Service would be on strike as of 10 a.m. Alberta time today.

The 3,800 employees of the parcel delivery company, refused the offers made by the employer in the negotiation of a new collective agreement.

Information will be provided on the Teamsters Canada Website — http://www.teamsters-canada.org — as developments occur.
