Family, ATB and colleagues
to pay tribute to AUPE member in memorial service
CALGARY – A mass will be held on Dec. 10 to commemorate the
life of Sylvia Vega, a member of Local 020 who died last December
when a car crashed through the wall of the Calgary bank in which
she worked.
Sylvia’s family and friends will honour the memory of their
daughter and sister with two masses, one in Calgary and a second
service in their home of Bogota, Colombia.
The Calgary mass is scheduled to take place at the Cathedral of
St. Mary’s, 219 18 Ave. SW, from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
ATB Financial will close its Country Hills Blvd. Branch, where the
accident took place, on Dec. 10 in honour of Sylvia, said Local
020 Chair Linda Kneeshaw.
“We still think about her, it’s a day we will never
forget,” Kneeshaw said.
German Vega, Sylvia’s brother, encouraged Sylvia’s friends
and coworkers to attend the Dec. 10 service in Calgary.
