AUPE president named for second consecutive year to Venture magazine’s ‘most influential’ list

EDMONTON — For the second consecutive year, Alberta Union of Provincial Employees President Dan MacLennan has been listed as one of “Alberta’s 50 most influential people” in the July/August 2004 edition of Alberta Venture magazine.

The Alberta-based business magazine this year described MacLennan as “the province’s most powerful man in organized labour.”

The magazine says it selected this year’s 50 most influential people — 51, actually, counting a power couple as one — “to give our readers insight into the human forces shaping Alberta — from business to educational policy, health care, social causes and the arts.”

This is the eighth year the magazine has published such a list, which includes with MacLennan the likes of Calgary Flames superstar Captain Jarome Iginla, Alberta Deputy Premier Shirley McClellan, Deputy Prime Minister Anne McLellan, Premier Ralph Klein, federal opposition leader Stephen Harper and women’s hockey star Hayley Wickenheiser.

MacLennan was the only labour leader to make the lineup this year.

A longer version of the profile will be featured on Venture magazine’s website:
