AUPE president available for media comment after Throne Speech

EDMONTON — Dan MacLennan, president of the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees, will be available after 4 p.m. tomorrow to comment on the Speech From the Throne.

Lieutenant Governor Lois Hole will read the Conservative government’s agenda for the 25th Legislature at 3 p.m. tomorrow.

MacLennan has repeatedly urged the government to make available adequate funding for public health care, public education and government services. He has also urged the government to avoid so-called public-private partnerships, which he has called direct taxpayer subsidies to business, for government projects that may be announced.

AUPE is Alberta’s largest union, with more than 58,000 members.
