RED DEER — Alberta Union of Provincial Employees President Dan MacLennan will be available for media interviews before and after a joint annual general meeting for a large number of Central Alberta AUPE members that is scheduled for tomorrow evening.

In addition, Red Deer-area media are welcome to attend the joint AGM, which about 250 members of AUPE locals and chapters from around Central Alberta are expected to attend.

The meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, in the Marquis Room of the Harvest Centre Building at the Westerner Park Grounds on Red Deer’s south side.

Dinner is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m., and MacLennan will address the AUPE members during dinner.
During his remarks to members, MacLennan will address the recent criticism of Alberta labour legislation by the United Nation’s International Labour Organization, upcoming contract bargaining for provincial government and health sector employees, AUPE’s growth by more than 6,800 members in the past year, the provincial budget and other topics.

MacLennan will also discuss the April 5 opening of AUPE’s new Central Alberta Regional office in Red Deer. The office is located in Suite 101 of the Thorn Court Building, 4719 – 48th Ave.
This is the third year AUPE has held a joint AGM in Red Deer in the spring for members from throughout the area.
