AUPE to host barbecue Monday for University of Alberta Hospital health workers

EDMONTON – The Alberta Union of Provincial Employees will host a huge barbecue on Monday, June 16, for general support services workers and other employees of the University of Alberta Hospital.

More than 2,000 people are expected to attend throughout the day.

The barbecue is part of a series of AUPE events across the province designed to give AUPE members the opportunity to tell health care workers about the benefits of membership in Alberta’s largest and most effective union, and to encourage them to vote for AUPE as their union in the runoff votes required by Bill 27, the government’s legislation that restructures labour relations in Alberta’s nine health regions.

AUPE is serving Alberta beef at its barbecues to show its solidarity with Alberta’s beef industry.

Media are welcome to attend.

The barbecue will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. near the 112th Street entrance of the U of A Hospital.
