St. Mary’s Hospital employees in Camrose ratify agreement

CAMROSE – About 80 members of the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees at St. Mary’s Hospital have overwhelmingly ratified a new collective agreement.

In voting today at their worksite in Camrose, members of AUPE Local 047/017 accepted the two-year agreement, which will give them pay increases of 4 per cent in the first year and 3.75 in the second year, said AUPE Staff Negotiator Wayne Trimble.

The deal also includes changes to some job classifications for specific groups of employees that result in much larger percentage pay increases, said Trimble, who negotiated the agreement.

"It’s a good agreement and the employees, obviously, are happy with it," said Trimble, who led the union bargaining team.

AUPE Local 047/017 represents housekeeping, laundry, maintenance and administrative support employees at the Camrose hospital.
