Social workers May Day rallies to take place today at noon

EDMONTON – Alberta social workers represented by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees will participate in a series of rallies in their communities today.

AUPE members aim to show that they stand for just treatment of people who need society’s help as well as dignity and respect for the social workers who deliver that help.

AUPE represents social workers, child care counselors, psychologists and others in the field.

Participants in the rallies will be showing support for the rights of social workers and their clients, celebrating their solidarity and calling for fair funding for social programs.

A list of today’s workplace rallies is included below. Each will take place at noon.

AUPE President Dan MacLennan will participate in the Edmonton rally.
