Employees of Town of Ponoka ratify three-year agreement
EDMONTON Employees of the Town of Ponoka represented by the Alberta
Union of Provincial Employees have ratified a three-year collective agreement
that gives them pay increases of five per cent, four per cent and four
per cent in each year of the contract.
The members of AUPE Local 118/004 ratified the contract in voting in Ponoka
Wednesday evening.
"This is a good deal that includes several improvements in addition
to the pay increases," said Union Representative Wayne Trimble, who
negotiated the agreement.
The new collective agreement also includes:
" An increase in shift differential pay.
" An improved boot allowance.
" An increase in standby pay for employees of the towns waterworks
department.
" Improvements in contract language pertaining to maternity leave and
sick leave.
There are about 50 employees of the town represented by AUPE.
Ponoka is 100 kilometres south of Edmonton.
