AUPE Provincial Executive to meet in Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE – The Alberta Union of Provincial Employees’ 38-member Provincial Executive will meet throughout the day Saturday at the Lethbridge Lodge in Lethbridge.

AUPE President Dan MacLennan will attend the meeting and will be available for interviews between noon and 1 p.m. Saturday.

The members of the senior governing body of Alberta’s largest union will discuss bargaining now underway at educational facilities and in the health care sector in southern Alberta, as well as other important union business.

Negotiations for new contracts for AUPE members are under way at the University of Lethbridge, Lethbridge Community College and at health facilities throughout the region.

AUPE, with membership approaching 50,000 province-wide, has about 4,000 members in the area between Pincher Creek, Brooks, Medicine Hat and the U.S. border.

The union’s Provincial Executive, with representatives from every corner of Alberta, meets six times a year at various locations throughout the province.

AUPE is currently in negotiation for about 4,500 employees of educational institutions throughout Alberta, and on behalf of nearly 20,000 health care workers in all 17 Alberta health regions.
