LETHBRIDGE – Members of the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees who work at the Edith Cavell Care Centre will hold an information picket between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, to draw attention to their employer’s refusal to negotiate a fair first collective agreement.

The Lethbridge nursing home is operated by a Vancouver-area company – Chantelle Management Ltd. – for the Chinook Health Region.

Members of AUPE Local 058/027 will be on the picket line to demonstrate their concern with their employer’s apparent effort to keep them from getting the first contract to which they are legally entitled.

About 100 employees at the nursing home voted to join AUPE in December 1999. They include support workers and personal care attendants.
