Liana White Memorial Barbecue
A continuous line of people streamed through the courtyard of the Royal Alexandra Hospital Aug. 12, to pay tribute to the memory of Liana White, and to raise money for a trust fund in her name. Members of Local 054, including Jim Shelley and Francois Dubois, organized both the trust fund and Friday's barbecue. Proceeds from the barbecue totalling close to $11,000 will be invested in the trust fund along with more than $9,000 in donations received from AUPE and several of its Locals and Chapters. "That's just incredible," said AUPE President Dan MacLennan, when informed AUPE has raised more than $20,000 for the trust fund, which will go to help Liana's daughter, Ashley, when she turns 18.
