Information Picket at Lynnwood
More than 100 members from various AUPE worksites took part in an information picket held June 10 at the Capital Care Group - Lynnwood facility. The members came out to throw their support behind auxiliary nursing care employees, whose current negotiations have come to a standstill with the Edmonton-based continuing-care employer. “We’re hoping this information picket sent the employer a strong message,” said Staff Negotiator Terry Agoto. “The window of opportunity to reaching a fair settlement for these hard-working members is rapidly closing.” Agoto added: “The government mediator proposed an unacceptable settlement, which our Bargaining Committee recommended our membership reject. Consequently, the membership overwhelmingly rejected the mediator’s report.”
