Capital Health Info Picket
A boisterous crowd of well over 500 AUPE auxiliary nursing care members and their supporters sent a strong message of solidarity and determination to win a fair contract to the Capital Health Region today. AUPE President Dan MacLennan joined the ANC employees in front of the downtown Capital Health Centre as they chanted: “What do we want? A contract! When do we want it? Now!” MacLennan told the cheering lunch-hour crowd that “it’s absolute BS that this employer is offering only eight per cent over four years! This employer continues to take advantage of this province’s unfair labour laws in these negotiations,” he stated. MacLennan and various AUPE members conducted interviews with members of Edmonton’s media, who were also present for the afternoon demonstration. MacLennan called on members to continue to support their bargaining committee.
