2007 international Day of Mourning
EDMONTON - Members marked the International Day of Mourning for Workers Killed or Injured on the job April 28 with a ceremony at the union’s headquarters in Edmonton. AUPE local executive leaders from across the province attended a one-day day seminar on Hazard Awareness: Elimination and Control. They also listened to a presentation delivered by the husband and wife team of Bernie and Sheila Inman. In 1994, Bernie, employed with Talisman Inc., was involved in a life-threatening work-related accident that rendered him a quadriplegic. AUPE Vice-President and Chair of the OH&S Committee Krista Koroluk also attended the event, as did President Doug Knight and several members of the print and electronic media.
