National Aboriginal Day

The Human Rights Committee wishes all AUPE members, particularly those of First Nation, Inuit or Metis heritage, all the best on National Aboriginal Day. This is a day to recognize and honour the unique contributions that Aboriginal people make to society, through their diverse cultures and outstanding individual achievements. The committee encourages all members to take in one of the hundreds of events marking this day around Alberta.

Hockey equipment donation

On Oct. 4, AUPE Vice-President Glen Scott delivered a truck full of hockey equipment — all donated by AUPE members — to Sport Central, a non profit group that works to gather, recycle and redistribute equipment to children wanting to be involved in sport. The hockey equipment drive was organized by AUPE’s Human Rights committee.
