Bargaining Update: Wednesday, March 3, 2004 AUPE Local 059/001 members to vote on tentative agreement with AADAC EDMONTON - A wage-reopener tentative agreement between AUPE and the Alberta Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission was reached on Feb. 26. The agreement proposes an increase to all wage rates of 3.5 per cent affective Jan. 1, 2004. Members of the Local 059/001 Bargaining Committee were of the opinion that this settlement is all that can be achieved at this time and are recommending acceptance by the membership. Local 059/001 members are being asked to consider and vote on the proposed settlement. The approximately 750 employees of the AADAC will be sent ballots this week. Ballots must be returned to AUPE in the envelope provided by March 31, said AUPE Union Representative Steve Nimchuk. Results of the vote will be posted on AUPE's Web site as soon as possible following the vote count on April 1. AADAC is an agency of the Alberta government, charged with assisting Albertans in dealing with the harmful effects of alcohol, tobacco, other drugs and gambling. AUPE members are employed by the agency at locations throughout Alberta. ![]() |
