Joining AUPE

You can take an important step toward protecting your job security and enhancing your dignity on the job by joining the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees.

AUPE is Alberta's largest union, representing well over 62,000 Albertans employed by the provincial government, public and private sector health care facilities, educational institutions, provincial boards and agencies, and local governments.

When a minimum of 40 per cent of your co-workers have signed a petition, AUPE can apply to the Alberta Labour Relations Board to conduct a secret-ballot vote. When a majority of the workers who cast ballots vote for AUPE to be your union, AUPE will begin negotiations for a new contract for you.
